The MIBIREM consortium led by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) performs soil and ground water sampling in selected sites across Europe on 3 different contaminants: cyanides, hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) and petroleum hydrocarbons (PHC).

The sampling has been conducted at 13 different contaminated sites in 7 European countries as outlined on the map.
